During the Second World War, up to 14,600 people were employed in Sömmerda, including around 6,000 forced laborers and prisoners of war, who were housed in numerous subcamps of the Buchenwald concentration camp in and around Sömmerda.

Hey Mally, bin noch nicht lange dabei aber es scheint ungleich schwerer Lebensläufe der Menschen aus den östlichen betroffenen Ländern zu recherchieren. sehr schade für die nötige Aufarbeitung und die Hinterbliebenen.
I haven’t been doing this for long, but it seems much more difficult to research the lives of people from the affected eastern countries. It’s a real shame for the necessary recovery and for the bereaved.

ja, das stimmt leider. Das liegt sicher auch am historischen Umgang mit dem Thema.
Es gibt zwar ein paar Seiten, auf denen ich regelmäßig nachschaue (wir hatten dazu mal einen Beitrag zur Recherchehilfe, da habe ich einige davon geteilt), aber insgesamt ist das leider nicht wirklich vergleichbar.

There are a few websites I check regularly (we once had a post about research help where I shared some of them), but overall, it’s unfortunately not really comparable
