I got this („Ref. Russe“) the second time now on Drancy-cards. Should I take up „Russe“ or „Ref. Russe“, and what does the „Ref“ mean? Thanks
[edit]
It actually seems to be the abbreviation for „réfugié/réfugiée´“ . Flüchtling /refugee.

In the original Drancy transport list his nationality is given as „indét.“ (indéterminé/not determined)
Actually he was born in Poland, so „Russian refugee“ would not be correct. (Of course there may always be incorrect entries in these lists and cards, see the spelling of Mr. Dobiecki’s place of birth.)
In any case, we always enter everything as it is written in the document, so here „Réf. Russe“
Kind regards!
