sender:
Maria KUTSCHERUK
Wetzlar/Lahn
„Lager Goeth’s Garten“
card sent in 1942? (December?), according to postal stamp
„Goeth’s Garten“ (Braunfelser Straße 59) is mentioned here. It seems to have also been a camp for IMIs (Italian Military Internees)

recipient:
Jurko KUTSCHERUK
„Schiwotowka, raion Oratowo“
Maybe it is this village in former Raion Orativ:
Zhyvotivka / Животівка, today Raion Vinnytsia. ( 687121 - Q599542)

Could this be her in the Arolsen Archives? (Maybe she was in Goeth’s Garten before forced to work in the Leitz camp (Lahninsel/Stadion?)

  • with date of birth 24.04.1913 - „Lager Stadion“ (Wetzlar) - POB „Schiwotylka“
(medical treatment in October 1943) - see here
  • Probably the same person with dob 24.04.1915, „Arbeitgeber E. Leitz, Wetzlar“
(„Verzeichnis der bei der Allgem. Ortskrankenkasse Wetzlar versicherten Ausländer“) - see here

If yes, she might have been comparatively (!) well off, because Ernst Leitz II created working conditions for the forced laborers that were as humane as possible. An opponent of the Nazi regime, he helped the Jew Hedwig Palm to escape and to free politically persecuted people from the hands of the Gestapo (together with his sister and daughter) (source: wetzlar-erinnert, a detailed and informative website)

Next to her name in the Arolsen lists above:
Anna KUTSCHERUK, date of birth given as „Oct. 1904“
same place of birth, same camp, same „employer“
Maybe a relative?

below a card sent by Natalija KUTSCHERUK on 11.06.1943
Ostarbeiterinnen-Lager „Berta“ in Stuttgart
(I didn’t find any information about a camp named „Berta“ in Stuttgart.)

recipient (might be identical to the one mentioned in Maria’s card above)
Jurko KUTSCHERUK
village „Schiwotowka“, raion „Oratow“

2 „Gefällt mir“

Wow, that is an impressive research, thanks a lot for additional information! It does look like her, i agree. As well as it is indeed very likely, that they were both writing to the same person (maybe father?)
