Ich bin ganz neu hier, und schon bei den ersten Karten ist mir aufgefallen, dass oft nicht der Geburtstag, sondern nur das Alter eingetragen ist. Das Alter kann man aber nicht vermerken. Rückschlüsse auf das Geburtsjahr zu ziehen, verbietet sich, da die Person ja ggf. im Jahr der Ankunft noch später Geburtstag hat.
I’m brand new here, and even with the first few cards, I noticed that often the person’s birthday isn’t listed, but only the age. However, you can’t actually record the age. Drawing conclusions about the year of birth is impossible, since the person’s birthday might be later than the year of arrival.

Solche Antworten findet man auch auf dem „I“-Feld bei den Eingabefeldern. Mir ist es aber auch schon oft passiert, dass ich trotzdem nachgefragt habe (zu viele Infos, zu unkonzentriert oder so).

In DP 3 documents, sometimes there is a birth year like 01.01.41. Given that there are no infos, this could be 1841 or 1941. Which one should be used? Many children were registered in the DP camps, some only a few days old. There were also very elderly people there. However, birth years earlier than approximately 1855 are extremely rare. I can’t recall anyone that old. Therefore, I would enter „xx 41“ – „xx 52“ as 1941 - 1952. If in doubt, select „unclear“.
