Discussion Question
Eugen OMELSKI - #Ukrainian/GermanEugen OMELSKI, b. 27.08.1901 in Onuth (Bukowina)
An Ukrainian/Romanian man, living in Czernowitz prior to WWII
The son of Dionizij and Leopoldyna née OMELSKY
The husband of Luisa (b. 15.08.1901 in Onuth) and father to Pawlo (b. 27.08.1943 in Dresden)
The family was declared not eligible to DP status in 1949, due to German citizenship of Eugen, acquired during wartime. However, successive feedbacks and testimonies from acquittances/friends regarding circumstances of citizenship’s changes seemingly reversed the decision at a later point.
The family emigrated to USA on 13.03.1952 onboard USS GENERAL HEINTZELMANN
Eugen passed away 22.07.1980
