Ellie Claessens
Ellie Cleassens went in hiding in 1943 on various ships under the name Maria van der Heiden. Later on, when the ship she was hiding on was requisitioned by the Germans, she joined her husband Maximiliaan who was hiding in Amersfoort. In the summer of 1944, they were betrayed, arrested and deported. Ellie survived Auschwitz and remarried Simon Topel in 1956. Maximiliaan did not survive.
