Brother: Otto (Othon) Hanau
https://ressources.memorialdelashoah.org/notice.php?q=identifiant_origine:(FRMEMSH040870777282)

„Othon Hanau was a German Jew. In 1944, he lived in Annecy (Haute-Savoie), rue Jules Ferry. He was single and a business manager.
On January 23, 1944, he was arrested by the Militia in Annecy because he was Jewish. He was handed over to the German authorities in Annemasse (Haute-Savoie) then transferred to Lyon (Rhône) and imprisoned in the prison of Montluc.
On February 23, 1944, Othon Hanau was executed by the Germans in Montluc. The police commissioner who went to the scene obtained little information about the identity of the victim and the cause of his death. According to the version of the German adjutant on duty, „Hanaux Othon born February 23, 1908 in Merzech (?) of Jewish confession“ had been shot while trying to escape. The victim was transported to the forensic institute. The medical examiner found that Othon Hanau had received five bullets in the back, fired at close range, it seems, since three of them had passed through his body. He also had an „unspecified“ injury to the outer corner of his right eye.
On March 2, 1944, Othon Hanau was buried in the Guillotière cemetery (Lyon). On August 27, 1946, he was exhumed to be buried in Annecy, in the military square of Loverchy.“
