Driessen, P. Johannes & Johanna (Kares) Johanna and Johannes Driessen-Kares, who had a married daughter and an adult son, lived in the village of Blitterswijk, Limburg. They hid an eight-year-old Jewish boy named Alexander Dasberg when asked to by underground activist Anna van Dam. Their daughter, Johanna Verstraelen-Driessen*, and her husband, Gerard, also hid a Jewish girl. While living in the Driessens’ home, from the middle of 1943 until the middle of 1945, the Jewish boy assumed a false identity as their grandson. On July 7, 1986, Yad Vashem recognized Johannes Driessen and his wife, Johanna Driessen-Kares, as Righteous Among the Nations
