Abraham Bantchewsky was born on 23/05/1890 in Bialistock (Poland). He was married to Massia Bantchewsky. They had one son, Victor, born in 1922 in Aris. Abraham Bantchewsky was a doctor of medicine, graduating from the Faculty of Paris in 1924. His thesis was entitled Sudden death during infant eczema. Before the war, he lived at 9 rue des Couronnes in the 20th arrondissement of Paris (France). He was a doctor at the rue Amelot school camp in 1931. During the Occupation, he worked in the southern zone. He lived in a hotel with his wife and son at 5 rue Senac in Marseille (Bouches-du-Rhône). Suspected of anti-national activities, he was arrested during the big round-up in Marseille in January 1943. He was interned on 12/03/1943 at the Drancy camp (Seine-Saint-Denis) from the Royallieu camp at Compiègne (Oise). He was deported with his son Victor on convoy 53, which left the Drancy camp on 25/03/1943 for the Sobibor camp (Poland). They did not return from deportation.
