Paulette Cahen was born Berco on 23/10/1912 in Paris 12e. She is the wife of Robert Cahen. They live at 32 rue Massue in Vincennes (Val-de-Marne). She is a shorthand typist. Her husband was denounced by a member of the Rassemblement National Populaire before being saved by a policeman. In the autumn of 1941, they went to Montpellier (Hérault). She found work at the Groupement de répartition des produits indispensables de l’Agriculture. She took her maiden name and the prefecture provided her with papers. In 1944 she escaped arrest and the couple decided to flee. They arrived too late at Revel (Haute-Garonne) to join a Resistance group. They left by train on 18/06/1944 to return to Toulouse but were arrested near the Montaudran airfield. They were interned in the Caffarelli barracks. Paulette was deported by convoy 81, which left Toulouse on 30/07/1944 for the Ravensbrück camp. Her registration number was 49647. Her husband was deported by the same convoy to the Buchenwald camp. She was liberated in Ravensbrück on 09/04/1945 by the Red Cross. Her husband also returned from deportation. Paulette Cahen died on 18/06/1992.
