Erasmo Marcello Cheller was born in Piazzola sul Brenta (Padua) on 22 April 1923. A paratrooper, after 8 September he became a partisan in the Matteotti Formations. Arrested in Strambino by the Black Brigades and the SS at the end of September 1943, he was detained first in Vercelli and then at the Nuove in Turin. Deported via Bolzano (Tibaldi transport no. 115), on 11 January 1945 he arrives at Mauthausen, where he is assigned serial number 115443. Classified as Schutzhäftlinge (security prisoner), he declares his occupation as a railwayman. He is released when the Americans arrive at the camp at the beginning of May 1945.
