Everijndert Arie POLET, born in Gouda (NL) on 14.08.1897.
He was a house painter and druggist at the „Raam“ (street) in Gouda.
In 1928 he became a member of the municipal council for the Anti-Revolutionary Party.
In 1935 he was appointed alderman for Public Works.
During WWII, he refused to cooperate with the German occupiers.
He was dismissed as councilor and was interned for more than a year in various camps, including the Buchenwald concentration camp.
After the war he was reinstated and remained alderman until 1962.
He was awarded the medal of honor in gold from the municipality of Gouda.
